Use this guide when you already have questions in a file and want to move them into QuizRise as a digital quiz.
In the QuizRise app, this option is called Extract from File.
When to use Extract from File
Use Extract from File for files such as:
- An exam PDF.
- A worksheet with questions.
- A quiz or test document.
- A file that includes questions and an answer key.
This is different from From File:
- From File creates new questions from study material.
- Extract from File imports questions that already exist in the file.
Steps
-
Open QuizRise.
-
Choose Extract from File.
-
Click Select File and choose the file that contains your questions.
-
If QuizRise shows page selection, choose the pages or page range that contain the questions, then click Continue.
QuizRise uploads the file, extracts the text, creates a quiz, and starts importing the questions and answers it can identify.
After import
Open the quiz and review the imported questions before sharing it. Check that:
- Each question is complete.
- The correct answer is selected.
- Multiple-choice options are in the right place.
- Any answer explanations or extra text look correct.
Best practices
- Use files with clear question and answer formatting.
- Select only the pages that include the quiz or answer key when possible.
- Keep the answer key close to the questions when the file includes one.
- Avoid uploading pages that only contain instructions, covers, or unrelated lesson material.
- Use From File instead if the file is lesson material and you want QuizRise to write new questions.
Extraction can skip unclear or low-confidence questions, so always review and edit the quiz before students answer it.
